Lyrics: The hot summer night fell like a net Doctor, doctor, give me the news A pretty face don’t make no pretty heart Doctor, doctor, give me the news I know you like it, you like it on top You had me down, 21 to zip Doctor, doctor, gimme the news |
Prior to becoming a 1980s power rock god with Addicted to Love and his work with The Power Station, Robert Palmer dropped this piece of pure rock gold. In addition to this track and the monster hit, Addicted to Love, Palmer also scored more minor hits with Simply Irresistible and Every Kinda People. In the mid-1980s, he joined with Duran Duran’s Andy Taylor to form The Power Station, scoring a mega-hit with a cover of T-Rex’s Get It On (Bang a Gong) and a minor hit with Some Like it Hot. Palmer faded from fame in the late 1980s, eventually moving to Nassau, and later Lugano, Switzerland. Sadly, Palmer died of a sudden cardiac arrest in a Paris hotel room on September 26, 2003, at the age of 54. He was in France following work on a retrospective titled My Kinda People, which had been shot in London. Video: Here’s a “live” (read: badly lip-synched in front of a live audience) video of Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor) that appeared on NBC’s Midnight Special on October 5, 1979.
