Lyrics:

Hey!
Uh huh huh
Hey!
Uh huh huh

What I like about you
You hold me tight
Tell me I’m the only one
Wanna come over tonight, yeah

Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
‘Cause it’s true
That’s what I like about you

What I like about you
You really know how to dance
When you go up, down, jump around
Think about true romance, yeah

Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
‘Cause it’s true
That’s what I like about you [x3]
Wow!
Hey!

What I like about you
You keep me warm at night
Never wanna let you go
Know you make me feel all right, yeah

What I like about you
You keep me warm at night
Never wanna let you go
Know you make me feel all right, yeah

Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
‘Cause it’s true
That’s what I like about you [x7]

Hey!
Uh huh huh
Hey, hey, hey, hey!
Uh huh huh, brr
Hey!
Uh huh huh
Hey!

The Romantics’ eponymous debut can be had here:

If this song doesn’t make you want to jump up and down, slinging beer in every direction, good sir, I don’t know what I can do to help you. This song has to be the reigning champ when it comes to the world’s best party songs. Every time I hear this song, it takes me back to my college days when two bucks and a stamp on the hand was all that stood between you and all the bad beer you could handle.

The Romantics were formed in 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, and charted two additional hits, Talking In Your Sleep, and One In a Million. Various members have come and gone over the years, particularly at drummer. They still tour today.

As a side note, this album cover comes to you straight from the Department of Pants So Tight, You Can Tell What Religion They Are.

(And did you know the drummer, Jimmy Marinos, was the vocalist on this song? Prior to seeing this video, I didn’t.)

Video:

Here is the perfectly coiffed video for Talking In Your Sleep from 1983’s In Heat. And it probably goes without saying that as I teenager, I liked this video. I liked it a lot. It probably goes without saying that as a forty-something, I like this video. I like it a lot.
