Lyrics:

Born in Mississippi, raised up in Tennessee.
Never wanna cross or mess with a man like me.
Friends like me ’cause I speak my mind.
Women love me ’cause I take my time.
Jump and shout ’cause Church Is Out.
Took my girl to church back down in my home town.
Preacher got excited and threw his Bible down.
He said “I been preachin’ too long a time.
You get yours and I’ll get mine.”
Jump and shout, ’cause Church Is Out.
Now it ain’t no harm if I feel like singin’ the blues.
I done said my prayers and I’m done payin’ my dues.
Live, let live, is my advice.
If you’ve got questions ask me nice.
Jump and shout, ’cause Church Is Out.
Women in the country hollerin’, “Whoa, Hah, Gee”.
Women in town hollerin’ who’ll take me.
Gotta gal waitin’ with dreamy eyes.
Feels like lightnin’ when she smiles.
Jump and shout, ’cause Church Is Out.

I am feeling pretty bluesy today. Maybe it’s the weather. Maybe it’s the malaise I am feeling over the recent deaths of several music icons. Maybe it’s because I have the blues way down deep in my lily-white tuckus. Hard to say.

In any event, Church Is Out is one of my go-to songs when I am fishing. In fact, Peter Franklin Kughen and I prefer the blues when we’re tooling around the lake, beating up on the bass. If the swampy guitar riff and groovy bass don’t hit your groove bone, then you might want to see a doctor. Really, because you got no soul. Even my beagle can get down with these blues.

Get funky, my babies!
