Snippets from the mind of an American hero. Random observations about life, love, fishing, dementia, music, sports, and yodeling. General strangeness. Intellectual badassery.
Light the fuse and run now, brother
Cuz’ you ain’t got a lot of time
Don’t you act surprised
When it all goes to hell on your dime
Maybe you can stand tall enough
To look the devil eye to eye
But you better make your getaway quick
So you don’t have to answer why
The bells will ring
And the flames will fly
Two thousand years of fury in the big black sky
The bells will ring
And the flames will fly
Two thousand years of fury in the big black sky
The wind will roll
And the rain will fall
Are we waiting for the thunder?
Will the lightnin’ get us all?
Waitin’ for the thunder
All the money and the war and religion
And which one do you serve?
Maybe them with the power and the glory
Got more than they deserve
Why do we stand by and do nothin’
While they piss it all away?
And we hope we wake up in the mornin’
To the light of a brand new day
The bells will ring
And the flames will fly
Two thousand years of fury in the big black sky
The wind will roll
And the rain will fall
Are we waiting for the thunder?
Will the lightnin’ get us all?
The bells will ring
And the flames will fly
Two thousand years of fury in the big black sky
The wind will roll
And the rain will fall
Are we waiting for the thunder?
Will the lightnin’ get us all?
Waitin’ for the thunder
Waitin’ for the thunder
Waitin’ for the thunder
Today we’re featuring Atlanta rockers Blackberry Smoke. If you are a fan of the Black Crowes and you haven’t checked out Blackberry Smoke, I urge you to give them a listen. While they take more of a decidedly rock-country bent than do the Crowes, similarities between the two abound. This is muscular rock-country at its best.
Blackberry Smoke formed in 2004 and has released five studio albums, three EPs, and one live album. Most recently, they have toured with Gov’t Mule.
Plug this one, turn the volume to 11, and rock it, my babies.

Sadly, Blackberry Smoke hasn’t released an official video for this track, but here is a high-quality audio track:
Also, here is a live performance of Waiting on the Thunder from Later with Jools Holland on the BBC:
