Today, I have chosen this song in honor of The Resident Six-Year-Old who today, has become The Resident Seven-Year-Old.

Whenever we’re in the car and this song comes on, Eric is back there in his car seat, jamming away. He always asks to hear it a second time. Given that R.E.M. is one of his Papa’s (and his dearly departed Uncle Mark’s) favorite bands, I am especially happy that he loves this song. Neither of us can sing fast enough to keep up with Michael Stipe, but we try.

Happy birthday to my little buddy. And while the song has a macabre sentiment, the world is just beginning for you, my little man.
