Lyrics: Doing alright Jenny was sweet News is blue (the news is blue)
Pick up your feet Driver’s seat, oohoo, driver’s seat, yeah Driver’s seat, oohoo, driver’s seat, yeah Driver’s seat, oohoo, driver’s seat, yeah Get It: The bonus track version of Fickle Heart is available here: |
Sniff n’ The Tears are a British rock outfit that formed in the early 1970s and enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame in 1978 with the release of Fickle Heart, which contained their sole hit, Driver’s Seat. The song hit number 15 on the U.S. charts but quickly faded into obscurity (for reasons I’ll never understand). It enjoyed a resurgence in 1997 when Driver’s Seat was used in the movie, Boogie Nights. Driver’s Seat is a regular in several of my playlists and remains five of my favorite minutes from the late 1970s. There is simply no way any human with a normally operating sense of rhythm could dislike this song. None. Whatsoever. The band broke up in 1983, but reformed in 1993, still tours today, and enjoys a fair amount of success thanks to this one-hit wonder. As a side note, the dude in the sunglasses and flight jacket in the background is gettin’ it!
