The year was 1994, and the airwaves were chock full of self-loathing, flannel-wearing Seattle grungers. I was just getting deep into my career and was loving the disaffected growl coming from Seattle. Then along came a couple of angry, petulant Manchester-born rockers with their version of grunge that I call “Bad-Teeth Brit Grunge.” I still remember hearing Live Forever for the first time while listening to Indy’s X103 and its original alternative rock format. Oasis was formed by brothers Liam Gallagher (the voice and the balls) and Noel Gallagher (the brains and the guitar) in Manchester in 1991 and fought through 18 years of legendary spats with one another before finally calling it quits in 2009. The riff between the brothers is so severe, last I read, they won’t even be in the same room with one another. Pity, because when they are together, they are a tour de force of rock and roll. During their 18-year run, they produced seven brilliant albums, and a bevy of singles containing exclusive tracks (often cover songs, such as their version of Slade’s Cum On Feel the Noize). Live Forever was one of several hits from the Definitely Maybe album, which is solid from the first note to the last. Video: Also from Definitely Maybe comes Supersonic: You Might Also Like:
