Lyrics: Fields are white in snowy spring and I can’t remember
And I’ll love her yet, though she has done me wrong And every heavy night And I’ll love her yet, though she has done me wrong Get It: At just $3.99, this is a steal for one of the best records produced in the 1990s: Live at Red Rocks 2015 is an excellent live record; it contains 21 live tracks including Broken Hearted Savior: |
Named for founder and guitar wizard, Todd Park Mohr, BHTM formed in Colorado in 1984. While many only remember them for this album, they have continued making criminally underappreciated music for more than 30 years. Their blend of rock, blues, and funk has earned them a cult following. I first saw BHTM live in 1993 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They appeared on a double bill with a band I’d never heard of at that point, The Dave Matthews Band. And while Dave Matthews eventually lost favor with me (and with a lot of fans) that show remains a seminal moment for me. Both BHTM and Dave Matthews killed it live—and I mean killed it. I’ve only been to a few shows in which the crowd was into the music like it was at this double bill that lasted nearly five hours. I tend to be more stoic at shows because I’m intently listening to rather than “feeling” the music, but even I was swept away by the fervor of the crowd. I left that show soaked in sweat, and immediately went to the nearest record store and purchased DMB’s Under the Table and Dreaming. Broken-Hearted Savior is a favorite here at Dances with Bass Radio, especially when we’re strapped into a pair of awesome headphones. The deep, rich bass and the powerfully dark melody is absolute perfection. And if you’ve never felt like someone’s “broken-hearted savior,” then you’ve never truly loved and lost. Count yourself among the lucky. Enjoy this track, but be sure to check out the rest of BHTM’s catalog.
