Lyrics: I hold on so nervously
Well I’m not paralyzed I hold out for one more drink Well, I’m not paralyzed Well, I’m not paralyzed I’m not paralyzed You’ll probably move right through You’ll probably move right through |
Hailing from Ontario, Canada, this quintet of Canuck rockers began their rock and roll lives—and I swear, I am not making this up—as the Rainbow Butt Monkeys. Under that moniker, the band released a single album—Letters from Chutney—in 1995. While we’re sad that the band ditched this colorful and festive name, we suspect that the radio gods have treated them more favorably because of their sacrifice. In 1996, the band changed its name to Finger Eleven and released Tip, its first album under that anonym. Finger Eleven enjoyed its earliest success in Canada with the release of The Greyest of Blue Skies, which spawned the single, First Time, which climbed to number 11 on the Canadian rock charts. Eventually, Finger Eleven drew enough following to open for 1990s post-grunge rockers, Fuel and Creed. (By the way, the staffers here would like to point out that rather innocuous reference to Creed is the closest we’ll ever get to talking about Scott Stapp and his Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs ways. Just sayin’.) Finger Eleven’s U.S. success came with the release of its eponymous third record in 2003. The single, One Thing, reached number 1 in Canada and number 5 in the U.S. (see the official video for this single below). In 2007, the band dropped Them vs. You vs. Me, which spawned today’s single, Paralyzer. This funk dance–infused rocker hit number 1 on the U.S. charts and led to the album being certified double platinum.
