Lyrics:

We don’t like you, we just want to try you
I’m tired of runnin’, the feeling ain’t comin’
This all could be simpler, it all could be simpler
But all this is sickness, the feeling ain’t in this

We don’t know where to stop
We don’t know where to stop
I try and I try, but I can’t get enough
I won’t fail you, but you won’t bleed for me

I won’t fail you, but you won’t bleed for me

Have I been sinful, have I been sinful
It’s all been for nothin’, you’re ain’t good for nothin’
It’s hard not to die when your time has been killed off
But I have been grateful you know this could take hold

We don’t know where to stop
We don’t know where to stop
I try and I try, but I can’t get enough
I won’t fail you, but you won’t bleed for me

Try to keep your head up high
Time burns so deep inside you
Rips your throat out

We don’t like you, we just want to try you
I’m tired of runnin’, the feeling ain’t comin’
This all could be different, it all could be different
But all this is sickness, the feeling ain’t in this

We don’t know where to stop
We don’t know where to stop
I try and I try, but I can’t get enough
I won’t fail you, but you won’t bleed for me

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club—BRMC as they are known to their fans—formed in San Francisco in 1998. Originally called The Elements, the band changed its name as an homage to Marlon Brando’s motorcycle gang in the 1953 movie, The Wild One. Bassist Levon Been is the son of Michael Been was the vocalist for The Call, which scored a radio hit in 1989 with Let the Day Begin (see the video below).

BRMC’s sound is fuzzy and rough-edged with a sound that smacks of Dinosaur Jr and The Jesus and Mary Chain. In 2005, the band released Howl, which was a largely acoustic-based record that dipped its toes into more of a country and western sound without being country and western. Two tracks from that record, Ain’t No Easy Way and Shuffle Your Feet get heavy rotation here at the Dances with Bass corporate offices and fit nicely alongside tracks from The Black Crowes, Tom Petty, and other artists who seamlessly blend rock, blues, and country.

In 2013, BRMC released Spectre at the Feast, which contained a cover of The Call’s Let the Day Begin.

The track Stop is a nighttime highway song that is the perfect complement to a black road sliding under your wheels on a cool dark night.
