The song itself needs no introduction as it is one of the most successful and widely played songs ever written. The song was first written and recorded by Mark James in 1968 but wasn’t a hit until Elvis Presley released his cover version in 1969. Since that time, Suspicious Minds has been recorded by many artists, including Dwight Yoakam, Fine Young Cannibals, B.J. Thomas, and Pete Yorn. Yorn’s version is my favorite. I saw him perform it live in Indianapolis in 2005.
